A busy little market town standing on the River Great Ouse in Cambridgeshire, St Ives has a population of about 16,000 and is approached by way of an attractive 15th century bridge, with a small chapel on it. The statue of Oliver Cromwell in the market place, reminds visitors that this historic figure once farmed in this area.

St Ives History: Originally called Slepe, the town was renamed after the discovery of the body of St Ivo (a Persian bishop). For many centuries important for its market, which is one of the largest in England, St Ives still holds a Monday market, a Friday market and a Farmer’s market.

St Ives Attractions: Among the attractions which can be found in St Ives, are the aforementioned bridge over the River Great Ouse, with its unique chapel, the Grade II listed Corn Exchange, dating from the nineteenth century, the Norris Museum, and Holt Island, a local nature reserve.
