Map and Guide Tring United Kingdom

A small market town with a population of around 11,000, Tring is situated in the Chiltern Hills in the county of Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom.

Well known for its Natural History Museum (founded by the Rothschild family), and its 4 reservoirs (built to supply the Grand Union Canal), Tring is now mostly a commuter town with good road and rail links with London.

Tring Manor was mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086), and amongst its well known residents have been George Washington’s great grandfather (Lawrence Washington), Colonel Guy and the Rothschild family.

The Natural History Museum was founded in 1937 as a private zoological museum.

Tring can be accessed from the A41 or from the B488.
