Alicante is a historic city and capital of the Alicante province of the Valencian Community, it is overlooked by its huge castle (Santa Barbara), which was built by the Moors. Alicante is a ferry port and the location of the main airport serving the region.
Alicante can be accessed via the N-332 coast road and from the N-340, the AP-7 and A-7 motorways.
