Though now part of the huge modern Borough of Milton Keynes, Newport Pagnell is actually a very old place. Mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, when it was called Neuport, it acquired the extension Pagnell, when the manor was later owned by a family of that name. Newport Pagnell these days has a population of around 15,000.
Newport Pagnell is situated beside the M1 motorway and can also be accessed via the A509, the A422 and the B526.
