The second largest town in the county of Suffolk, England, Lowestoft has a population of around 70,000 and is within the district of Waveney. It began life as a Danish settlement on Lowestoft Ness, the present harbour was built in the early 19th century, joining Lake Lothing with the North Sea. The town has for many years been a significant port and fishing town, to the west lies the Broads National Park, a popular area for boating holidays and for anglers.

Lowestoft has a decent choice of hotels and guest houses, and also cottages, villas and flats, for self-catering holidays in the area.

Lowestoft can be reached via the A12 and the A146, it is around 44 miles from Ipswich and 103 miles from central London.
