A town of some 6,000 inhabitants Wadebridge is located on the River Camel about 5 miles upstream from Padstow in North Cornwall. An ancient town, it was originally called simply "Wade" before the bridge was built, it was granted a license to hold a market in 1312.
Wadebridge can be accessed via the A39 and A389.
