Huntingdon: Birthplace of Oliver Cromwell (1599), the charming market town of Huntingdon is now in the county of Cambridgeshire (formerly in Huntingdonshire).

An ancient town, Huntingdon was founded during Anglo-Saxon times and was mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. A significant bridging point across the River Great Ouse, the town became a busy market town.

Huntingdon has a population of around 20,000, and has plenty of interesting places to visit. The Cromwell Museum, housed in an original Norman building, was formerly a school, and was where both Oliver Cromwell (Lord Protector of England), and Samuel Pepys were educated. The St Mary's church still has remains from the original Norman structure.

Huntingdon Cambridgeshire can be reached from the A14 and the A141, it is about 22 miles from Cambridge, 23 miles from Peterborough, and 69 miles from London. Huntingdon has rail links with Peterborough and London King's Cross.
