The county town of Essex, Chelmsford has a population of over 120,000 and is a historic town with a story going back to prehistory. Neolithic and Bronze Age settlements have been found in the area and a significant Roman fort was constructed in around 60AD, after which it became known as Caesaromagus (market place of Caesar) a great honour at the time. Chelmsford today is a busy commuter town, with good road and rail links with Central London.
Chelmsford can be accessed from the A12, the A414 and the A130, it is about 32 miles from Central London.
