Pill is a large village located on the southern bank of the River Avon, approximately five miles west of Bristol and close to where the River Avon meets the Severn Estuary. Together with neighbouring Easton-in-Gordano, Pill has a population of around 5,000. Pill was populated starting with the early generations of people making a living from the river as pilots, sailors, fishermen, and dock workers. The M5 motorway is nearby and Junction 19 gives access to good road links to the village, while buses connect Pill with Bristol and other villages. Currently, Pill railway station is not used for passengers, but it is located close to the village.
