Situated along the northern coastline of North Devon, Northam is located near where the River Taw meets its estuary with Barnstaple/ Bideford. Northam is a quiet seaside town with a rich history dating back to Saxon times, as well as an agricultural, fishing and trading-related development. The population of Northam is approximately 5,500; but in the summer months, it can feel more crowded because of holiday visitors. However, Northam Burrows is a major draw for visitors, with open grassland, salt marshes and footpaths to Westward Ho!, while the Royal North Devon Golf Club is reputedly the oldest golf club in England. St. Margaret's Church provides an interesting historical element to the old town; and in nearby Great Torrington, the Plough Arts Centre houses a local arts scene.

Drivers typically use the A39 to access Barnstaple and Cornwall, while Barnstaple offers rail services. The area features National Trust properties such as Arlington Court, Baggy Point, and Heddon Valley, as well as English Heritage locations such as Okehampton Castle and other remnants of history along the historic coast of North Devon.

We hope you found this Northam tourist map useful for your visit to the area.
