Dittisham is an idyllic village located along the banks of the River Dart to the west of both Dartmouth and Totnes. The population here is approximately 700 people who enjoy the traditional charm typical of Devon; there are many narrow lanes leading to colourful houses and a connection to the water. Dittisham's history is very much based on its location and has been based on fishing, farming and river trading since well before present day, so it is no surprise that people come from far away to experience this idyllic environment where life moves at a slower pace than other areas.
Road access is available via country lanes leading to either Dartmouth or Totnes, with regular mainline rail services from Totnes as well. The Quay remains a focal point of village life, hosting boating activities, kayaking and river trips throughout the year. The Bay Area National Trust includes Greenway (the home of Agatha Christie) and Coleton Fishacre which have stunning gardens and scenery. English Heritage visitors will visit the Dartmouth Castle and see the area’s rich maritime history. Dittisham offers a taste of South Devon through its rolling countryside, estuarine landscapes and beautiful walks. No fuss at all!
