Glenfield is a good-sized village located on Leicester’s north-western edge, and home to around 10,000 people. It has a history going back to well beyond the time of the Domesday Book. Once a small farming settlement, Glenfield expanded considerably as Leicester grew, although parts of the old village still retain oodles of character. The A50 and the nearby A46 provide road connections, with the M1 motorway only a short drive away and regular buses running into Leicester. Glenfield Hospital is a major local facility, alongside schools, shops, pubs, parks and community services. Bradgate Park and the National Space Centre are close by, while National Trust-owned Stoneywell and English Heritage’s Kirby Muxloe Castle are easy options for a day out, if that's what floats your boat.
