Waterbeach is a large village located approximately six miles to the north of Cambridge, situated in between the River Cam and the edge of the Fens. It has a long history dating back to Saxon times, but the nearby Car Dyke and remains of Denny Abbey indicate that civilization existed at the site many centuries earlier. The parish had a population of around 5,500 in the Census of 2021 and has undergone increased development around the site of the old Waterbeach barracks. The village has all the necessary facilities including shops, pubs, schools, churches, sports facilities, medical services and other services for daily life.

Waterbeach station is particularly useful as it has trains to nearby Cambridge, Ely and King's Lynn, while the A10 road is the major road link to the settlement. There are lots of opportunities for walking near the area such as riverside and fen walks. The parish of Waterbeach can be reached quickly from Cambridge and nearby attractions such as the Denny Abbey and Farmland Museum rather easily. Other major attractions include Anglesey Abbey and Wicken Fen, while historic city of Ely with its famous cathedral is within easy reach.
