Camber Sands is well known throughout East Sussex as one of the most popular seaside resorts because of the expansive sandy beach and huge sand dunes, which are unlike the majority of pebble beaches that cover most of the Sussex coastline. Camber Sands grew in popularity as a holiday destination in the 20th century due to the construction of caravan parks, water sports, and large numbers of people visiting the coast for fresh air and open spaces. Very few people live in Camber all year long, but during the summertime, there is an influx of families, kiteboarders, and dog-walkers to the beach.

The A259 runs along the coast, providing access to Rye and Hastings, and the train services from the Rye station connect travelers to Ashford, Brighton, and London. Paddleboarding and kitesurfing are just some of the activities enjoyed by visitors to Camber Sands, while nearby Rye boasts medieval streets, pubs, and independent shops. Other National Trust sites around Rye include Lamb House, while English Heritage sites around Rye include Battle Abbey and Pevensey Castle. Camber Sands and the surrounding area are a combination of flip-flops, fish and chips, and wind-swept sand dunes.
