West Firle is a diminutive settlement on the South Downs in East Sussex, which is noted for its impressive views over the countryside, as well as its historic buildings consisting of antique flint cottages. It has strong ties to Firle Estate. The village was founded during the medieval era and has become very well maintained since then. The combination of its tranquillity, antiquated buildings and open farmland lend West Firle a sense of untimeliness since it is almost identical to what it must have been like centuries ago. With only several hundred inhabitants, West Firle provides an incredibly calm atmosphere and offers its inhabitants relaxed lifestyles.

The primary road connecting to West Firle is A27, which connects to Lewes, Eastbourne and Brighton, whilst the railway stations at Glynde and Berwick connect with London and the south coast. Firle Place attracts many visitors who come to see the historic building, gardens and events, whilst walkers frequently use the South Downs Way and the countryside west of Falmer to access the Seven Sisters Country Park. National Trust sites, including Birling Gap and The Clergy House, and English Heritage sites including Lewes Castle and Pevensey Castle, are close by. West Firle is a location where muddy boots after a walk; an old pub; a cup of tea served with cream; would all appear to be in their natural context.
