Located in a picturesque landscape of rolling hills, wooded lanes and rustic views typical of the County of Sussex; Robertsbridge is a lively village that grew out of the Cistercian Abbey founded in the 12th century. In the 15th century, Robertsbridge was also known for its iron working due to the boom in the Wealden Iron Industry. With a local population of approximately 2,500, the village still loves to have a small-town community and is therefore crowded with independent stores, pubs & cafes that have always been part of our daily lives.
Access to the village via Robertsbridge Railway Station provides direct services to London, Hastings and the south coast; the nearby A21 continues to provide a direct route for vehicles travelling to/from the village. Visitors intend to visit Bodiam Castle, the local vineyards, and the numerous walking trails that cover the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The nearby National Trust properties are Bateman's and Bodiam Castle, and the English Heritage properties are Battle Abbey and Pevensey Castle. Robertsbridge can also be associated with some famous people, such as the British actor Sir Paul McCartney, who had a property just outside of the village. Robertsbridge is one of those places where, when you go there to look in an antique store, wear muddy boots, and/or order lunch from a pub your experiences will seem to match perfectly.
