The town of hook is located in North Hants between Basingstoke and Fleet; it has been growing steadily, whilst having a bit of countryside on all sides. it began as a small coaching inn on the old london to exeter road, before expanding as a result of the railway boom and then during the commuter boom. the population is approximately 9,000, so it appeals to people looking for good transport links, but without the hustle and bustle of larger towns. there is an adequate selection of shops, restaurants and cafes, schools, and parkland; in addition, there are some major nearby attractions, such as the beautiful grounds of the Vyne and the historic site of Odiham Castle. in addition to the vyne and odiham they are also near Wellington Country Park and the Basingstoke Canal which would make for a great day out. the M3 passes through hook, so whether travelling towards the north-east or south-west you will not have far to travel before you reach the M3. hook is serviced by a railway station which has direct services into London Waterloo and Southampton; therefore whether you wanted to go to London, Southampton or either of the two airports (Heathrow or Southampton) you will be able to access them all within a reasonable distance.
