Chertsey is a traditional market town tucked along the River Thames in north-west Surrey, with a laid-back pace, pretty old buildings and a solid sense of community. It's one of those places that doesn't try to shout about itself but quietly delivers on charm, practicality and local character. You'll find green spaces, riverside walks, a bustling little high street and the odd surprise—like the UK's biggest theme park just up the road. It's well-connected without being overwhelmed by traffic, and there's a mix of families, retirees and long-time locals who help keep the town grounded.

Chertsey is one of the oldest towns in Surrey, with roots going all the way back to the 7th century. It grew around Chertsey Abbey, founded in 666 AD, and was once one of the most important religious centres in the south of England. Although the abbey was largely destroyed during Henry VIII's dissolution, some of its remains can still be seen around Abbey Fields. Over the centuries, the town expanded thanks to its riverside location, its market rights, and later, the arrival of the railway. Today, the population is just under 16,000, and while modern developments have crept in, there's still a strong sense of history running through the place.

Getting to Chertsey is straightforward. The train station offers regular services to London Waterloo, and you're close to major roads like the M25, M3 and A3. This makes it easy to head in just about any direction, whether you're popping into London, nipping down to the coast or heading across to neighbouring counties. Heathrow is just 20 minutes away by car, which is ideal for travel, and Gatwick isn't too far off either. Local buses connect nearby towns like Weybridge, Addlestone and Staines, and the area is friendly for cyclists too, especially along the Thames towpath.

By zooming out a couple of steps (double right click) you can view the surrounding areas of Addlestone, Ottershaw, Lyne, Longcross, Thorpe, Thorpe Green, Virginia Water, Egham, Englefield Green, Staines, Shepperton, Weybridge, New Haw, Row Town, West Byfleet, Byfleet, Woodham, Walton-on-Thames, Hersham, Sunbury-on-Thames, Upper Halliford, Feltham, Laleham, Ashford, Stanwell, Stanwell Moor, Ashford Common, Littleton, Esher, Cobham, Oatlands, Molesey, East Molesey, West Molesey, Oxshott, Brooklands, Windlesham, Bagshot, Sunningdale, Sunninghill, Eton, Windsor, Old Windsor, Wraysbury, Datchet.
