Oxted is one of those towns that feels like it's got the best of both worlds—proper countryside charm mixed with the convenience of good transport links. Oxted's roots go back centuries, with the original settlement based around what's now known as Old Oxted. Getting to Oxted's pretty straightforward. Trains from Oxted Station run regularly into London Victoria and London Bridge, so it's a popular base for commuters. If you're driving, the A25 passes through town, and the M25 is close by, making it easy to hop around the South East. Gatwick is the closest airport—just under 30 minutes by car—and London Heathrow isn't too far either. Buses run through the town connecting the smaller villages and nearby towns, so you're not stuck if you're going local.
