Houghton is a pretty riverside village that is located in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. It is tucked away beside the River Great Ouse between Huntingdon and St Ives. Together with neighbouring Wyton, the parish has a population of aroubd 2,000 people. Its history goes back many centuries, with old cottages, traditional lanes and it's All Saints' Church adding oodles of character. The star attraction of the area is the National Trust-owned Houghton Mill, a historic working watermill that is surrounded by lovely riverside walks and meadows. Local facilities include a shop, pub, community hall and sports clubs, with St Ives and Huntingdon covering bigger needs, should you have them. The A1123 provides road links, while Huntingdon offers mainline trains if you prefer to travel that way. Wimpole Estate and English Heritage's Denny Abbey are also within reach.
