Papworth Everard is a growing Cambridgeshire village that is located about ten miles west of Cambridge, and has a population of around 3,000. Its historic roots are medieval, although it became much better known during the 20th century through the Papworth Hospital and the pioneering heart and lung medicine that took place there. The hospital moved to Cambridge in 2019, which left the village with an unusual medical legacy. Today there are a decent selection of shops, schools, sports facilities, community services and plenty of modern housing. The A428 gives transport links to Cambridge and St Neots, with buses serving the surrounding towns. The National Trust favourite of Wimpole Estate is located nearby, while English Heritage's Denny Abbey could also be on your visiting list.
