Shaldon is an attractive coastal village sitting at the mouth of the River Teign, directly across the water from Teignmouth. Home to roughly 1,800 people, it grew around fishing, shipbuilding and river trade, and its narrow streets, Georgian houses and waterfront still carry plenty of that old character. The village is linked to Teignmouth by the A379 bridge and a traditional passenger ferry, while Teignmouth railway station provides regular services towards Exeter, Newton Abbot and Torbay.
