Four Marks is situated along the A31 road between Winchester and Alton, a large Hampshire village with a simple, relaxed vibe surrounded by countryside. The village mainly gained most of its growth and expansion during the 20th century, as a result of its past association with transportation routes, and subsequent growth when commuting families arrived to settle down here. With a population of approximately 4,500 people, while Four Marks has expanded over time the village maintains its village feel through its local shops, schools, and pubs which comprise of the heart of the village. Among other attractions that are situated within the vicinity include: the Watercress Line heritage railway, Hinton Ampner (a National Trust property) and gardens and grounds, and the Jane Austen Museum towards Chawton. Consequently, if you like outdoor activities such as walking or cycling then you would also have access to the national park South Downs. With regard to transport options the A31 road runs directly through the village. Alton and Winchester both provide rail services, and Southampton Airport is approximately half an hour's drive away (subject to the prevailing traffic situation).
