Stanway is a large, semi-rural village just to the west of Colchester, blending old-world charm with the convenience of modern living. It's one of those places that's grown steadily but still manages to keep hold of its village feel, despite having all the retail parks and big-name shops you could ask for. It's got a comfortable, well-established vibe to it, with quiet roads, decent schools and good access to both countryside and town.

The village has deep historical roots—its name comes from the Saxon “stone way,” which probably refers to the Roman road that passed through the area.
