As one of the villages in Kent, Borough Green has that combination of being so close to the country side, but also doesn't feel too far removed from it. It is situated between Maidstone and Sevenoaks with the North Downs not too far from either town. The village experienced significant growth with the arrival of the railway during the nineteenth century - changing a primarily agricultural community into something of a commuter town, as well as developing into an important local trading hub. Today, the population of Borough Green sits at approximately 4,500 and the entire village has a true 'lived-in feel' with many shops, pubs & cafés, all of which are located within the village centre.
Borough Green & Wrotham railway station provides direct rail connections to Ashford and London Victoria, whilst the nearby M20 provides a relatively quick and easy route for commuters and visitors travelling by road. The surrounding countryside is a big draw for people walking and exploring, whilst places of interest nearby include the Ightham Mote and Old Soar Manor - both managed by the National Trust - as well as two other sites managed by English Heritage; these sites are Lullingstone Roman Villa and Kit's Coty House. Other attractions drawing many visitors into the area throughout the year are Knole Park; Leeds Castle; Wrotham Heath Golf Club; vineyards around the Kent Downs.
