Located on the edge of Southampton Water within the New Forest area is Fawley; A small coastal village with a fascinating coastal and industrial past combined with beautiful countryside scenery, that has existed in some form since Anglo-Saxon times. While Fawley has been settled since that time, it is as a direct result of the oil refinery, that has been part of the landscape for many years, that defines the town today. Overall, the population of the town is approximately 15,000, which includes the small surrounding villages of Holbury and Blackfield, therefore the population is relatively low when compared to most of the surrounding areas, and therefore retains a very strong small community feel despite being an industrial area. The town is also very close to the New Forest national park, Exbury Gardens and the Beaulieu estate, in addition to the Solent coastline which provides lots of opportunity for both walking and sailing. In terms of accessibility; there are several good road networks leading through Hythe and Totton on to the M27: as well as a good rail connection direct to Southampton for easy access to the main train lines and other city services and Southampton Airport is approximately 30 minutes from Fawley depending on traffic. Overall, Fawley is in a unique and rare position able to offer a combination of woodland, shoreline and working industry that exists alongside one another without any problems at all.

We hope you found this Fawley tourist map useful for your visit to the area.
