Purbrook is located between Portsmouth (to the south) and Waterlooville (to the north), just below Portsdown Hill. It has been a bustling residential area (a blend of suburbia/convenience with access to both countryside/coast) since it was founded as a small farming community approximately 100 years ago. As surrounding Portsmouth developed outwards during the early 1900s, more people began to move to Purbrook until today it has an estimated population close to 10,000 people. There are many local shops, pubs/restaurants, schools/colleges, and parks available in Purbrook which add to the overall vibrancy of the community without overwhelming it's residents with noise or congestion. Portsdown Hill provides beautiful views across the Solent and there are several attractions nearby, such as Portchester Castle; The Queen Elizabeth Country Park; and the historic waterfront areas around Portsmouth Harbour. In addition to having many places to walk and cycle at the South Downs, Purbrook has strong transport links via the A3, M27; train stations (Cosham; Havant); and Southampton International Airport (less than 30 mins drive - subject to traffic).
We hope you found this Purbrook tourist map useful for your visit to the area.
