In the heart of the New Forest (Hampshire), sits the village of Beaulieu beside its lovely river of the same name. Beaulieu is known for its slow pace of life, its old world charm and beautiful countryside views. The village's history revolves around the 13th century monastery founded here by Cistercian monks - the ruins of which remain today, along with the famous Beaulieu estate. There are around 1,000 people living in Beaulieu however the village attracts large numbers of tourists throughout the year thanks in large part to the National Motor Museum and the wider New Forest area. All this can be explored on foot, as the village is compact enough to accommodate walking routes through woodlands, by rivers, past cosy pubs, and through many historic buildings. Nearby attractions also include Exbury Gardens and Buckler’s Hard, with the coastline of the Solent within relatively easy reach. The majority of transport links are via the road network, with the A326 nearby, and the rail network operating services from Brockenhurst, and Southampton Airport being approximately 35 minutes away from Beaulieu depending on traffic conditions.
