Climping is a quaint little village located along the west coast of Sussex. With its proximity to the busier seaside resorts of Littlehampton and Middleton on sea, Climping provides residents with the tranquillity of a small coastal village, and the opportunity to walk for miles along quiet beaches and countryside without being disturbed by throngs of tourists. The origins of Climping date back to pre-Saxon times, and one of the local landmarks, St Mary’s Church, serves as a historical reminder of the area’s rich history. There are fewer than 1,000 residents living in Climping, and that is what gives this village its noticeably slower pace of life, and where the beach paths often feel like they’re a few miles away from the town’s other inhabitants.
The A259 runs adjacent to Climping, and Littlehampton and Barnham train stations are within a short distance from Climping and provide transport services to London, Brighton and Portsmouth. The beach at Climping is popular with walkers, birdwatchers and people just looking for a nice sea breeze without too much hassle. Some of the best places to visit in and around Climping are the National Trust properties of Slindon Estate, Petworth House, and the many attractions provided by English Heritage, such as Arundel Castle, Amberley Museum and Boxgrove Priory. Climping exemplifies the old saying that muddy boots, dog walking and fish and chips go hand in hand perfectly!
We hope you found this Climping tourist map useful for your visit to the area.
