Darley Dale is a town and civil parish that is located in the Derbyshire Dales district of central Derbyshire. Darley Dale spreads along the Derwent Valley between Matlock and Rowsley, with a mix of old stone buildings, newer neighbourhoods and plenty of green hills around the edges. Darley Dale has a population of about 6,000 people, and the town's past covers farming, quarrying and industries that developed beside the river and the railway. The A6 is the main road that passes through the town, while Matlock provides the nearest regular National Rail services; Darley Dale also has a station on the heritage Peak Rail line. Whitworth Park, local shops, pubs and community facilities give residents plenty of stuff close at hand. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are nearby, while National Trust-owned Hardwick Hall and English Heritage's Hardwick Old Hall are both within easy driving distance if you are looking for a day out.
