Hadfield is a town that is located in the High Peak district of north Derbyshire. Hadfield sits high in the Glossopdale hills, where Derbyshire rubs shoulders with Greater Manchester, and the Peak District countryside is never far away. The town grew quickly with the textile industry, particularly during the 19th century, leaving rows of stone-built houses and old mill buildings around a community of roughly 6,000 people. Hadfield railway station gives direct trains to Manchester, while the A57 provides the main road connection through Glossop and across Snake Pass. Shops, pubs, schools and sports facilities cover the day-to-day needs of locals, with the Longdendale Trail beginning nearby. Walkers have reservoirs and plenty of moorland to explore, while Lyme (National Trust) and Peveril Castle (English Heritage) are perfect for trips into the Peak District.
