Wingerworth is a large village and parish that is located in the north-east Derbyshire region. Wingerworth has a greener, more residential feel than many of the other places around Chesterfield, with about 7,000 people living among established estates and stretches of open countryside. Its story reaches back many centuries, although the village became mostly associated with Wingerworth Hall and the Hunloke family before later development changed its scale. The A61 runs close by, making Chesterfield, Clay Cross and the M1 motorway fairly easy to reach by road, while Chesterfield railway station handles train travellers. Locally there are a range of schools, shops, pubs, healthcare and plenty of walking country around Avenue Washlands and the nearby reservoirs. For days out, Chatsworth House and the Peak District are not too far west, whilst the National Trust-run Hardwick Hall and English Heritage's Bolsover Castle offer two historic opportunities.
