Tibshelf is a village ans civil parish that is located in the Bolsover District of Derbshire, England. Tibshelf sits among the rolling countryside near Derbyshire's eastern edge, with its ponds, trails and patches of woodland helping to hide much of the village's industrial past. Tibshelf has a population of about 4,000 people, and it grew rapidly after coal mining arrived in the 19th century, although older landmarks such as St John the Baptist Church point to a much earlier settlement. The M1 motorway passes close by, giving easy road access to Chesterfield, Nottingham and Sheffield, while Alfreton is the nearest mainline railway station for train enthusiasts. Local shops, pubs, schools and healthcare cover the everyday needs of the villagers, and the Five Pits Trail is great for a leg-stretch if you want a breath of fresh air. National Trust-owned Hardwick Hall is close enough to visit, as is English Heritage's Bolsover Castle.
