Barlborough is a civil parish and village that is located in the Bolsover district of Derbyshire. Barlborough sits in north-east Derbyshire, where an old village core of stone buildings meets newer housing and the busy M1 corridor. Barlborough has a population of about 3,000 people, and its past can still be picked out around St James the Greater Church and 16th-century Barlborough Hall. Coal mining was once important locally, although the area is now better known for commuting and the nearby business parks. Junction 30 of the M1 motorway is on the doorstep, with the A619 linking Chesterfield and Worksop; Creswell railway station provides nearby rail services. There are pubs, shops, schools and healthcare locally, while Creswell Crags is worth a visit, while English Heritage's Bolsover Castle and National Trust-owned Clumber Park provide two bigger historic day trips.
